D. L. Taylor is a North Carolina native who grew up in rural Chatham County. She began filling sketchbooks as a child and had her first formal art training in high school. After graduating from the University of North Carolina, she continued her art studies in various painting classes and workshops, and began showing and selling her work in 2005.
Much of my work is influenced by my experiences growing in the country. My family had been farming the area for generations, so it seemed natural that I would develop an affinity for the open pastures, cropland and wooded areas surrounding me. My work expresses my love and respect of these rural spaces and reflects both nostalgic scenes as well as the changing landscapes of today. Working in acrylics, I like to play with bold colors to express the energy and emotion of a scene.
